Prothom Alo English Desk | Update:

Dhaka UniversityDhaka University students on Wednesday demanded expulsion of students, who got admitted to the university through cheating, reports UNB.

Under the banner of general students of DU, around 200 students formed a human chain at the foot of Aparajeyo Bangla at 2pm. Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) vice president Nurul Haque Nur expressed solidarity with the protesters.

"This is only the university that always shows the right direction to the country's people. It's regrettable that in the last few years, many students got in by cheating," he said. "It's damaging the glorious image and tradition of this university."

He demanded the university take action against the cheaters as soon as possible.

DUCSU's independent VP candidate Arani Semanti Khan and joint secretary of Bangladesh General Students Rights Protection Council Faruk Hossain also spoke at the gathering.

After the human chain, students also met vice-chancellor Akhtaruzzaman and submitted a memorandum.

The VC said the university has taken a strict stance against cheating.

"We'll take action through the discipline board when we'll get correct information. This is an ongoing process," he added.
