The Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad Committee (BMOC) has announced the six-member Bangladesh team for the 60th International Mathematical Olympiad to be held between 10 and 22 July in England’s Bath.

The members of Bangladesh team are M Ahsan Al Mahir (SOS Hermann Gmeiner College, Dhaka), Soumitra Das (Government Rajendra College, Faridpur), Ahmed Ittihad Hasib (Dhaka Residential Model College, Mohammadpur, Dhaka), Md Maruf Hasan Rubab (Mymensingh Zilla School, Mymensingh ), Saadman Hasan (St Joseph Higher Secondary School, Dhaka ), Mashroor Hasan Bhuiyan (Notre Dame College, Dhaka).

Bangladesh Mathematical Olympiad team coach Mahbub Majumdar and deputy leader and BMOC general secretary AA Munir Hasan will go to England as leader and deputy leader of the six Bangladeshi competitors.

Besides, BMOC Dhaka coordinator Md Baizid Bhuiyan, academic coordinator Tamzid Morshed Rubab and assistant academic coordinator of BMOC Ahmed Zawad Chowdhury will go there as observer.

As many as 66 Olympiads were held throughout the country with a view to selecting members of the Bangladesh team for IMO. The selected students then competed in 12 regional Olympiads.

The six-member team was formed through camps from the winners at National Math Olympiad held on 1-2 March.

BMOC organised the math festival which was arranged by Prothom Alo and sponsored by the Dutch-Bangla Bank.

Chattogram’s Ahmed Zawad Chowdhury won the first gold medal for the country in 59th IMO held in Romania in 2018.
