Besides, Sheikh Russell Digital Laboratories were established in 102 colleges, 375 secondary schools and 12 primary schools in order to boosting students’ empowerment through using of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as well as internet.

At present, some 706 upazila-based secondary schools are using multimedia classrooms in Rajshahi district. “We are hastening teaching-learning privileges side by side with preparing the teachers through imparting them with need-based training in these schools,” said Nasir Uddin, district education officer.

“We enjoy our classes with multimedia projection. We can see our topics on big screen. So, we can understand the subject-matters through projection easily than that of reading books,” said Tasnuva, a student of class eight in Shaheed Nader Ali Girls School and College at Baneshwar under Puthiya Upazila.

Ruhul Amin, principal of the institution, said, “We have started using ICT in 2016. Since then, students attendance in the class became hundred per cent. All the students appear in classes spontaneously. Teaching-learning process becomes easy”.

A significant change has started taking place in education sector by dint of successful promotion of digital technology benefiting teachers, students and others concerned in the region, he added.

Prof Saidur Rahman Khan, former vice-chancellor of Rajshahi University, said the role of teachers is very vital to make the ICT for education programme a total success. Focus of the programme is to equip teachers with IT knowledge so that they can prepare multimedia teaching materials for the students.
