40th BCS: 20,277 candidates pass preliminary test

A total of 20,277 applicants have passed in the preliminary test of 40th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination.

BPSC chairman Muhammed Sadique confirmed this to Prothom Alo.

The preliminary results were published on Thursday afternoon and it would be available on Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) website within a short span of time.

According to BPSC, a special meeting was called on Thursday to publish the preliminary test results of the 40th BCS. The meeting decided to publish the results.

The preliminary exam was held on 3 May 2019. A total of 412,532 candidates applied, but some 327,000 candidates finally attended the test.   

BPSC published the circular for 40th BCS on 11 September, 2018. The application process began on 30 September.

A total of 1,903 cadres will be recruited through the 40th BCS examination.

Some 200 will be recruited in admin cadre, 72 in police, 25 in foreign, 24 in tax, 32 customs and some 800 will be appointed in education cadre.
