The National Youth Day will be observed across the country in a befitting manner on Friday, reports UNB.

The theme of this year is ‘Skilled youth building the country, Bangabandhu’s Bangladesh’.

State minister for youth and sports Zahid Ahsan Russell said this at a press conference at the ministry on Thursday.

A colourful youth rally will be brought out from in front of Sheikh Russel Roller Skating Complex around 8:00am. A youth fair will be also held at the Shilpakala Academy premises from 2 to 8 November.

Twenty-two self-employed young men and 27 people from five youth organisations will be given the National Youth Award on that day.

Prime minister Sheikh Hasina is expected to hand over the awards as the chief guest.

The state minister said the government has taken many projects to make the youth self-reliant.

“There’s no alternative to utilising the youth to build a digital Bangladesh by 2021, achieving SDGs within 2030 and the goal of a prosperous Bangladesh by 2041,” he said.

The government is determined to create more employment and self-employment opportunities for the youths at home and abroad, the state minister added.
