A total of 231 students poor but meritorious of different levels were given academic scholarships worth Tk 668,000 aimed at making their studentships smooth and successful.

Of the recipients, 120 are from secondary level, 24 from higher secondary level and 87 from under-graduate and postgraduate levels.

Zila Parishad (ZP) authority distributed the stipends at a simple ceremony held at its office premises in Rajshahi city on Wednesday.

Prof Monsur Rahman, MP, attended and addressed the distribution ceremony as chief guest with ZP Chairman Muhammad Ali Sarker in the chair. ZP chief executive officer Ahsan Habib, ZP Panel Chairman Nargish Akter and its members Abul Fazal Pramanik and Golam Mostofa also spoke.

Lawmaker Monsur Rahman urged the stipend-recipient students to enrich them with the knowledge, skill and wisdom needs to lead the nation in future creatively and competently.

“As the future leader of the nation students should build them as worthy citizens together with the quality of creativity to take forward the nation,” he added.

In this regard he underlined the importance on imparting quality education saying quality education is crucial for generating skilled human resources and making them as competent workforce for future employment.

He also urged the teachers and students to come forward to make the institution level teaching-learning process more effective.
