The High Court (HC) on Wednesday ordered the authorities concerned to take examination of expelled students of Primary Education Completion (PEC) by 28 December and publish their results by 31 December.

The bench of justice M Enayetur Rahim and justice Mostafizur Rahman also ordered the director general of the Directorate of Primary Education to appear before the court on 8 January with necessary documents.

A local newspaper ran a report on the expulsion of the students on 19 November. The matter was brought to the court's notice by lawyer Zamiul Haque Faisal, M Mahmadul Hasan, Gazi Farhad Reza and Foizullah Foyez.

According to the report, 15 children were expelled from PEC and equivalent exams on 15 and 16 December for allegedly cheating in the tests.

A High Court bench issued a rule on 21 November and questioned the legality of the students' expulsion. It also sought explanation from four respondents, including the primary mass education secretary and DG of the Directorate of Primary Education.
