DU to provide support for financially challenged students: VC

Dhaka University (DU) vice chancellor (VC) Md Akhtaruzzaman has urged the chairmen and students’ advisers of all departments to prepare a list of financially challenged students for providing support to them in running their academic life smoothly.

He was addressing the orientation programme of first-year honours students of different departments under the Faculty of Biological Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of DU at TSC auditorium, said a press release on Sunday.

Akhtaruzzaman urged the students to take oath to serve the nation after equipping themselves with the spirits of Liberation War, non-communal and humanitarian values as well as truthfulness, patriotism and honesty.

He congratulated the brilliant students of the country for getting admitted into this university in the historic “Mujib Year” through a competitive examination.

Director of Students’ Counselling and Guidance Office Mahjabeen Haque presided over the programme while pro-VC (administration) Muhammad Samad, dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Md Imdadul Hoque and dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology Md Hasanuzzaman addressed it as special guests.

Chairmen and students’ advisers of different departments were present on the occasion organised by Students’ Counselling and Guidance Office of DU.
