VSO, Prothom Alo sign MoU to reward volunteers, organisations

Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and Prothom Alo, a national Bangla daily, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to reward volunteers and voluntary organisations for their contribution.

VSO, a non-profit international development organisation, and Prothom Alo will jointly award those volunteers who come forward to help people during any national crisis and contribute building the nation.

As per the MoU signed on Monday at the Prothom Alo office, the ‘Voluntary Award 2020’ will be given to volunteers and voluntary organisations for their contribution in the fields of agriculture, environment and climate, education, sports and culture, health, science and information technology, skilled development and disaster management in the year of 2019.

VSO country director Forkhan Uddin and chief of Prothom Alo’s youth programmes Munir Hasan signed the deal on behalf of their respective organisations.

Addressing the event, Prothom Alo’s associate editor Anisul Hoque said, “This deal is for those of our children who are trying to do something good for our society with their self-effort.”

VSO country head Forkhan Uddin said, “We need to disseminate the success stories of our young volunteers at the global level. This recognition will create opportunity for them.”

The organisers said those who are below 35 will be nominated for the award. Voluntary organisation will also have chance to get the recognition.
