Students should prioritise learning programming: Palak

State minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak on Saturday suggested that students should emphasis on learning programming along with English, math and general knowledge, reports UNB.

He came up with the remarks at the online concluding programme of ‘High School Programming Competition’ organised by Bangladesh Computer Council.

“We've to build mentally creative generation to turn the problems into possibilities and programming is the tool to change the world," he said.

Children should be encouraged to learn programming to fulfill the demand of future and make the next generation knowledge based and self-reliant, he said.

Around forty million students are able to participate in the online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic due to the digital infrastructure that has been built in past 11 years under the leadership of prime minister Sheikh Hasina, Palak said.

The contribution of programming is unavoidable to generate a self-reliant and technology based nation, he added.

Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) professor and celebrated author Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) teacher M Kaykobad also spoke at the function among others.
