5,21,000 Rohingyas fled to Bangladesh since August: ISCG

Approximately 10,000 more Rohingya refugees reached the makeshift camps in Cox’s Bazar district in last couple of days fleeing the persecution in Rakhine state of Myanmar, rising the cumulative arrival to 5,21,000 since fresh violence erupted there on August 25.

Inter Sector Coordination Group (ISCG) disclosed the new figure in a report on Tuesday based on the information of IOM Needs and Population Monitoring, UNHCR, and other field reports from Naikhongchhari of Bandarban district.

Among the forcible displaced Rohingyas, residents of Rakhine State of Myanmar, some 2,01,000 have been taken shelter in Kutupalong and Balukhali makeshift camps while 1,56,000 in new spontaneous sites and 89,000 sought refuge in host communities, said the ISCG report.
