Another body of Rohingya washed ashore in Teknaf

Another body of Rohingya was washed ashore after the latest incident of boat capsize in Bay of Bengal.

The Bangladesh coast guard recovered the body of a man from Gholarchar area of Shah Porir Dwip in Teknaf upazila of Cox's Bazar on Thursday.

So far 32 bodies were recovered in the incident. Of them, 16 are children and 13 women.

Police said an engine boat carrying 50 Rohingyas including women and children from Myanmar was heading towards Teknaf on Sunday evening. As the boat was lashed by a stormy wind, it capsized off Shah Porir Dwip coast in Teknaf at 9:00pm.

Speaking to Prothom Alo, station commander of Shah Porir Dwip coast guard unit, lieutenant Jafar Imam Sajib said a body of Rohingya man aged between 25 and 30 years was recovered from the Gholarchar area at 8:30am on Thursday.

The body was handed over to Teknaf police station, he added.
