Tiger beaten dead in Bagerhat

A Royal Bengal Tiger was beaten to death by villagers at Gulichakhali village in Morelganj upazila of Bagerhat on Tuesday morning, reports news agency UNB.

The tiger entered the village crossing the Bhola river and attacked a local farmer Masud, 30, while he was working at his paddy field around 7:00am, said east Sundarbans divisional forest officer (DFO) Md Mahmudul Hasan.

Hearing his scream, locals rushed in and beat up the tiger, leaving it dead.

At least six people were injured while saving Masud from the grip of the tiger.

On information, a team of forest officials recovered the tiger’s body.
