India’s Border Security Force (BSF) on Tuesday suspended one of its constables for molesting a Bangladeshi woman on cross-border Maitree Express, reports The Outlook.

The incident reportedly took place when the train was bound for Dhaka on Monday.

The BSF jawan, who was part of the contingent responsible for providing security to the cross-border train till it enters Bangladesh from Gede in West Bengal, was found involved in the incident, the report said quoting an official.

The husband of the victim had complained to the station manager at Kolkata about the incident after which the BSF was informed, The Outlook said.

"Constable V Bhavi of the 99th battalion of the force has been found involved in the incident and he has been suspended," a senior BSF officer was quoted to have said.

"The incident report was taken very seriously and such incidents cannot be allowed to spoil the good relations between the two countries," the BSF officer was said to have added.

The Maitree Express, launched in 2008, runs between India's Kolkata and Dhaka on four days a week.
