Four Bangladeshis enrolled at the American University of Malta have recently been disappeared before reaching their campus, said the Times of Malta.

The students, according to the Maltese media, never showed up on campus and were suspected to have used their Schengen visas to travel to another European Union (EU) country.

However, the Schengen visa allows its holder free movement in 22 EU member states and four other European countries, it added.

Quoting The Sunday Times of Malta, it said the four students were recruited by the university a few weeks ago but ‘disappeared’ before they had even reached the university campus.

Quoting a spokesman for Identity Malta said the students never reached Malta.

The Bangladeshis were part of about 15 new students who were supposed to join the university in January, the report added.
