A suspect of Saturday’s Merul Badda murder incident was killed in a reported gunfight with detectives in Satarkul area of Badda in the capital early Sunday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Nurul Islam Alias Nuru, 30.

Earlier on Saturday, police with the help of local people caught Nuru along with a revolver and six rounds of bullets from the area soon after a man named Badsha was gunned down in the city’s Merul Badda.

As per information given by Nuru during interrogation, a team of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police went to Satarkul area to recover firearms and arrest his cohorts around 4:00am, said Badda police station officer-in-charge Kazi Wazed.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, Nuru’s cohorts opened fire on them, prompted them to retaliate, triggering a gunfight, leaving Nuru injured with bullet.

The injured was taken to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Arrested Nurul Islam has been wanted by DB police in a case for a long time.
