Gopalganj road crash kills 4

At least four people were killed and 20 others injured as a bus collided head-on with a truck on Dhaka-Khulna highway at Pona in Kashiani upazila on Tuesday afternoon, reports UNB.

The deceased were identified as Shilpi Samaddar, 65, president of Bagerhat chapter of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad and daughter of Jeeten Samaddar of Amlapara village in Bagerhat district town, Shahjahan Mollah, 50, son of Rulu Mollah, truck helper Sohagh Talukdar, 18, son of Barkat Talukdar, and bus helper Nayon, 25, of Bhudhpasha village in Kashiani.

The Pirojpur-bound bus collided with the brick-laden truck area around 12:30pm, leaving two people dead on the spot and 22 others injured.

Of the injured, two died on the way to Gopalganj General Hospital, said Hossain Muhammad Raihan, senior assistant police super of Muksudpur police station.

The bodies were sent to Gopalganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy, he said, adding that three of the injured were also taken to hospitals.
