Holey Artisan attack 'arms supplier' held

Police early Thursday arrested two members of banned militant outfit Neo-JMB (Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh), one of whom allegedly supplied arms and explosives in the Gulshan cafe attack, from Kichok area in Shibganj upazila of Bogra, reports UNB.

The arrested persons are Hadisur Rahman Sagor, 28, and Akram Hossain Khan Niloy, 24.

District Detective Branch unit officer-in-charge Nure Alam Siddique said acting on a tip-off, a team of police conducted a drive around 1:15am at Kichok area and arrested the duo.

They also recovered two mobile phone sets from their possession, he said.

Officials at Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) said Hadisur Rahman Sagar was one of alleged suppliers of arms and explosives, used in Gulshan Holey Artisan cafe attack in the capital on July 2016.

Akram Hossain Khan Niloy of Kishoreganj was also an alleged mastermind of Hotel Olio International blast at Panthapath in the capital on 15 August last year.

The duo was handed over to the CTCC unit of Dhaka.
