Bangladeshis among 9 killed in Saudi fire

Nine people including Bangladeshis were killed in a fire at a residential building in Saudi capital, Riyadh, according to a Bangladesh diplomat in the oil rich nation.

The diplomat said the fire incident took place at Al Nura University area in Riyadh on Friday morning.

"There are a number of Bangladeshis among the casualties in the fire at the residential building," Bangladesh ambassador in Saudi Arabia, Golam Moshi told Prothom Alo over phone.

According to Bangladesh embassy in Riyadh, construction workers from different countries including Bangladesh lived in that building.

Primary reports say nine people have died in the fire and several others sustained burn injuries. Bodies of the deceased and the injured were taken to a hospital in Riyadh. The identities of the deceased and the injured could not be known immediately.
