Pro-AL panel sweeps DU syndicate polls

Pro-Awami League 'Blue Panel' of teachers swept the syndicate election of Dhaka University (DU) held on Thursday, reports UNB.

The 'Blue Panel' grabbed 12 syndicate posts out of total 13 while pro-BNP 'White Panel' of teachers won the remaining one.

The election was held at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban on the campus from 9:00am to 1:00pm. DU treasurer professor Md Kamal Uddin who was the election commissioner announced the results around 3:10pm.

The elected syndicate members from the 'Blue Panel' are ASM Maksud Kamal, provost of Surja Sen Hall; Md Rahmat Ullah, law faculty dean; Mohammad Humayun Kabir, associate professor of Islamic History & Culture department; Md Mizanur Rahaman, assistant professor of Microbiology; Jannatul Naima, lecturer of Accounting & Information Systems; Alamgir Kabir, associate professor of Physics; Nepal Chandra Roy, assistant professor of Mathematics; Md Ashraf Sadek, associate professor of Institute of Education and Research; Farjana Ahmed, assistant professor of Graphic Design; Md Saiful Alam Chowdury, assistant professor of Mass Communication & Journalism; Sanchita Guha, lecturer of Sanskrit; and Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed, professor of Accounting & Information System department.

The only winner from the 'White Panel' is professor Md Hasanuzzaman, Dean of Engineering and Technology faculty.
