2 minor girls drown

Two minor girls drowned in a river in Batiagaon Shonarpara village of Jhenaigati upazila in Sherpur district on Wednesday.

The girls are Tania, 8, daughter of a certain Chan Miah and Sumaiya, 7, daughter of one Sirajul Islam, residents of the village, reports BSS.

The two minors fell into the river and drowned at noon when they were playing on the bank of the river, said Jhenaigati police station officer-in-charge Biplob Kumar.

Local people recovered their floating bodies, he added.
