Lightning kills 4 in 3 districts

Four people, including a woman, were killed in separate lightning strikes in Jamalpur, Jashore and Sirajganj districts on Thursday, reports UNB.

In Jamalpur, two people were killed as they were struck by lightning in separate incidents in Melandaha upazila.

A thunderbolt bore down on Shovajan, 55, wife of Moraduzzaman, when she went to collect firewood outside her house at Bir Hatiza village amid rain in the afternoon.

Farmer Farid, 30, died when lightning struck him as he was harvesting paddy in Gozamanika village of the upazila.

In Mohanpur village of Sirajganj sadar upazila, Habibur Rahman Habib, 28, son of Azizul Haque, was severely injured when a thunderbolt fell on him while collecting grass at Jamunar char.

Later, he died on the way to hospital.

In Chougachha upazila of Jashore, a thunderbolt claimed the life of a farmer, Fazlul Haque Thandu, 38, son of Sirajul Islam of Purahuda village, as he was working in a paddy field in the afternoon.
