Govt reduces office hours during Ramadan

The government has announced revised office hours for public servants during the Ramadan, according to the cabinet decision.

The new office timing has been brought down to six and a half hours -- from 9:00am to 3:30pm between Sunday and Thursday -- for the month of fasting.

The cabinet, at its weekly meeting chaired by prime minister Sheikh Hasina, took the decision on Monday.

Ramadan is likely to begin on 16 May, subject to moon sight, however.

The normal office timing round the year is eight hours -- from 9:00am to 5:00pm.
