Office assistant found dead

An advertising firm office assistant was found dead at his office in the capital's Niketan area on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The deceased is Rezaul Hossain Shakil, 25, an office assistant of 'Tinshell Town" located on the 1st floor of a multi-storey building at Road-3 of Block-B in Niketan under Gulshan police station.

Quoting office employees, police said Shakil used to reside inside the office at night. He stayed there on Monday night as usual.

Hailing from Chhagalnaiya in Feni, Shakil's father Nur Nabi, also works at another advertising firm in Niketan.

When other employees went to the office on Tuesday morning, they found it lock from outside. They thought Shakil went somewhere locking the office.

Shakil's father received a mobile phone call on Tuesday morning from an unknown person when the caller demanded Tk 200,000 for the release of his son, the UNB news agency quoted victim’s colleague Mosharraf as saying.

The matter was immediately informed to the police, he said.

Police went to the office around 6:25pm and recovered the body breaking open the door, said inspector (Operations) of the police station Aminul Islam, adding that Shakil might have been strangulated to death.
