Four people, including a schoolgirl and a schoolboy, were killed in separate incidents of lightning strike in Khulna, Kishoreganj, Brahmanabria and Pirojpur districts on Wednesday and Tuesday, reports UNB.

In Khulna, a man was killed as a thunderbolt struck him while catching fish in a water body amid rain at Lakhohati Uttar Beel in Dighalia upazila around 8:00am on Wednesday.

The deceased is Majibur Rahman, 50, of the village, said Barakpur union parishad chairman Gazi Zakir Hossain.

In Brahmanbaria, a schoolgirl was killed as a thunderbolt bore down on her when she went out of her house during rain around 7:00am on Wednesday at Amtali village in Bijoynagar upazila, said Ali Arshad, officer-in-charge of Bijoynagar police station.

The deceased is Nipa Akter, 16, daughter of Abdul Latif of the village.

In Pirojpur, a schoolboy was killed after being hit by lightning when he went to bring cattle home from a field at Bhezoki village in Mathbaria upazila on Wednesday noon.

The deceased is Yeasin Darji, 9, son of Yunus Darji of the village.

In Kishoreganj, a housewife named Swarupa Akhter, 45, wife of Omar Gazi of Samarchar village, was killed after being hit by lightning at Austagram Bazar of Austagram upazila around 8:00pm on Tuesday.
