Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday alleged party chairperson and former prime minister Khaleda Zia is kept in an insect infested uninhabitable room in the abandoned central jail.

Addressing a press conference at the party’s central office at Naya Paltan, the BNP leader also said the former prime minister has fallen ill due to insect bites.

“Living in the uninhabitable room infested with numerous insects is like living in hell. The BNP chairperson has fallen seriously ill due to the insect bites,” said Rizvi

He said Khaleda is suffering from severe neck ache and her left hand has stiffened due to chronic pain.

“Khaleda has undergone an eye surgery recently. Dust from the old walls of the old building is affecting her eyes,” he added.

He also said the damp floor has caused her severe cough.

Rizvi criticised the government for not taking proper measures to provide medical treatment to Khaleda Zia.
