CEC warns of tough measures against poll irregularities

Chief election commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda on Wednesday warned of taking tough action against those who will be responsible for committing irregularities in the Gazipur City Corporation (GCC) polls, reports UNB.

The CEC came up with the remarks while talking to the newsmen at deputy commission’s (DC) office in Gazipur.

He also expressed satisfaction over the atmosphere of the GCC polls and said, “No Army will be deployed in the GCC polls.”

“Though 84 days have been passed since the announcement of election schedule, the law and order situation still remains normal in Gazipur, so the voting will be free and fair”, he said.

Election commissioners Mahbub Talukdar, Md Rafiqul Islam, Begum Kabita Khanam brigadier general Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury, EC secretary Helal Uddin were also present there among others.
