Though the relatives of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia got permission from the jail authorities, they could not meet her on Saturday due to her illness, said her sister, reports UNB.

"We've come to know Khaleda Zia is suffering from fever and body aches. So, she couldn't meet us as she was unable to come down to the guestroom from the Ist floor," Khaleda's sister Selina Islam told journalists at the gate of abandoned central jail in Old Dhaka.

Selina and four other relatives entered the jail around 4:00pm and came out of it about 45 minutes later.

Khaleda's relatives last met her on 30 June.

Earlier on Wednesday, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at a press conference alleged that the jail authorities were not allowing Khaleda's relatives and party leaders to meet her with an ulterior motive.
