Dhaka University authorities have suspended three activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) for assaulting two students, according to UNB.

DU proctor AKM Golam Rabbani said, "The trio has been suspended from all academic activities of the university as the allegation against them was found true."

The decision was made on Sunday on the basis of primary investigation over written allegation and scrutinising CCTV footage, he said.

Sifat Ullah of Women and Gender Studies, Md Al Imran of Institute of Education and Research and Mahmudur Rahman of Institute of Modern Language department faced the action. All of them are first-year students.

Earlier on Saturday evening, the BCL activists beat up two students of Economics department of Dhaka University in front of Surja Sen Hall.

A three-member committee was formed to probe the incident.

Contacted, BCL Surja Sen Hall unit president Golam Sarwar said finding the students (victims) in an "objectionable state", the hall students wanted to know about their identities, which led to a scuffle at one stage.
