Dipu Moni elected AUW chairman

The trustees elected five new members to the Board: Dr.  Nirmala Rao, a UK national, Pro Rector of School of Oriental & African Studies in London; Ms. Rubana Huq, a Bangladesh national, Managing Director of Mohammadi Group in Bangladesh; Dr. Meenakshi Gopinath, Indian national,  former Principal of Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi; Ms. Lale Kasebi, a Canadian national, Chief Communication Officer and Head of  Strategic Engagement at Li & Fung in Hong Kong; and Ms. Lynne Anne Davis, a US national, President & Senior Partner, Fleishmann Hillard Asia Pacific in Hong Kong.

Former foreign minister Dr. Dipu Moni has been elected chairman of Asian University for Women.

The board of trustees of the university on Sunday also elected professor Sheikha Al-Misnad, former president of Qatar University as the vice chairman, says a press release.

Young Joon-Kim, a partner of the international law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy will continue to serve as the secretary of the board, the press release added.

The Asian University for Women is an independent international university chartered by the Parliament of Bangladesh, of which prime minister Sheikh Hasina is the chief patron and human rights lawyer Cherie Blair is the Chancellor.

AUW educates women from 16 countries in Asia and the Middle East.
