Grameenphone, DPDC partner for billpay services

Grameenphone has signed an agreement and launched pre-paid metre vending with Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) on Saturday at DPDC conference room of the Bidyut Bhaban in the city.

The agreement was signed by Rasheda Sultana, head of financial services, Grameenphone and Jayanta Kumar Sikder, joint secretary and company secretary, DPDC.

Ahmad Kaikaus, secretary of Power Division and Bikash Dewan, managing director, DPDC were present as chief guests. Mahmud Hossain, chief corporate affairs officer, Grameenphone was the special guest at the signing ceremony.

This service will ensure smooth operations to customers maintaining 24/7 vending service from customers' electronic wallet. In addition, GP selected retail outlets will serve as DPDC distribution points for providing vending solutions to the customers.

Grameenphone will ensure that customers are aware of service charges and GP POS/agent presence in different locations for smooth service delivery considering maximum customer convenience.

DPDC customers will be able to visit Grameenphone authorised agent points with pre-paid metre smart card and recharge their smart card.

Mahmud Hossain, chief corporate affairs officer, Grameenphone said, "This new service is a step for Grameenphone towards empowering peoples' lives and facilitating them with the daily life service digitisation through prepaid billpay system.

''Initiatives like this will eventually pave the way for true and practical digitization. This time, Grameenphone intends to be engaged at a more profound level of the consumer lifestyle,'' he added.
