Finance minister AMA Muhith on Saturday said the stock market is not a place for speculations and those who think so are its enemies, reports UNB.

"The present government has been able to strengthen the base of the country's share market. Now it's time for its further development," he said.

Muhith was addressing the 'Investors and Entrepreneurs Conference and Investment Education Fair, 2018' at a convention centre in the city.

Addressing the programme, the finance minister said once there was no discipline in the share market and the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) has restored discipline in the sector with its seven years of efforts.

"The share market is very important for the empowerment of mass people," Muhith said urging potential investors to invest in the share market after attaining proper knowledge about it.

Expressing satisfaction over the present state of the share market, the minister said the market has now achieved international standards. "The share market in Bangladesh is a rapidly growing sector overcoming all the obstacles."

BSEC chairman M Khairul Hossian delivered the welcome speech at the programme.
