Stocks open optimistic on bourses

Following the previous day's downward trend, both the bourses -- Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) -- witnessed positive trend in early hour of trading on Monday.

Within the first one hour of day’s trading, the benchmark index of the DSE went up by 26.77 points, while the Selective Category Index of Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) rose 19.43 points.

DSEX, the prime index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), advanced 26.77 points or 0.44 per cent to stand at 5,977.53 at 11:29am.

The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) gained 5.27 points or 0.37 per cent to stand at 1,399.91 points.

The DS30 index, comprising blue chips also advanced 10.40 points or 0.47 per cent to stand at 2,203.94 points.

Trade deals stood at 27,433 with transaction at over Tk 1,067 million on the DSE.

Of the issues traded till then, 164 advanced, 70 declined and 59 issues remained unchanged.

CVO Petrochemical Refinery Limited dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 123.53 million changing hands till then.

The port city bourse also saw positive trend till then with its Selective Category Index - CSCX - advancing 19.43 points to stand at 11,138 points, also at 11:29am.

Of the issues traded till then, 69 gained, 40 declined and 18 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 61.59 million.
