Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal rewrote history on Tuesday as he became the highest scorer of ODI runs on a certain ground during his 76-run innings against Zimbabwe.

Till date, Sri Lankan legend Sanath Jayasuriya held the record for scoring the highest number of runs on a certain ground. In his 71 innings at Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, the opener had scored 2514 thanks to four centuries and 19 half centuries.

But Tamim now has 2549 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, made in 74 matches. The left-handed batsman has hit five centuries and 16 half centuries on this ground.

Former Pakistan captain Inzamam Ul Haq is third, he has hit 2464 runs in 59 games at Sharjah.

With both Inzamam and Jayasuriya now retired, only Tamim's team-mate Shakib Al Hasan has a chance to topple the opener.

Shakib has scored 2369 runs in 76 games at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, thanks to two centuries and 20 half centuries.
