Two captains of Bangladesh women football teams may not be able to play scheduled Indian Women’s League as they have failed to get Indian visa, officials said.

Bangladesh national women football team captain Sabina Khatun and Bangladesh female Football team under-16 captain Krishna Rani Sarkar are supposed to play Indian Women’s League for Sithu FC of Tamil Nadu.

Bangladesh football federation made the announcement in a press briefing recently.

Sabina told Prothom Alo on Thursday that they are unable to participate in Indian Women’s League for visa related complication.

“Sadly, we are not going to India to play because of visa related complication,” she said.

She said that she is disappointed.

Sabina said that they were supposed to get Indian visa on 14 March but they did not get on the day. Later the date was fixed for Thursday but they did not get the visa. She said that they are given back their passports on Thursday.

Women football team coach Golam Rabbani confirmed that the two footballers did not get visa.

The chairman of Bangladesh Football Federation’s women football committee Mahfuza Akhter said: “The problem is: they need permission from the Indian ministry. This is not in our jurisdiction. We have asked their club to take measures. If their club can solve these, the two footballers will go. However, if they can’t, we have nothing to do.”
