Int'l conference on Bengal Studies kicks off at JU

A four-day international conference on Bengal Studies began at Jahangirnagar University campus on Thursday morning, reports UNB.

JU vice-chancellor professor Farzana Islam inaugurated the conference at Zahir Raihan auditorium around 10:20am.

A total of 250 papers on different disciplines of Bengal Studies will be presented in the four-day event.

Some 170 researchers from 20 countries will present their papers at the conference.

International Society of Bengal Studies (ISBS), a platform of Bengal Studies professionals for undertaking initiatives for the continuity of interaction between Bengal Studies scholars through organising International Conference, has arranged the conference at New Arts Building of the campus.

Moreover, a cultural function will be held on 28 January, on the last day of conference, at Selim Al Deen Muktamancho.
