Focus on tourism education: NU VC

National University will encourage and expand tourism and hospitality management education in all colleges under the university, said its vice chancellor Harun-ur-Rashid.

“We have taken the initiatives so that graduates can get employment after completing their education,” the VC said while speaking at a training programme on the campus on Sunday.

He said that tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors in the country and National University graduates can play an important role in this sector.

At present, nine colleges under National University are running tourism and hospitality management courses and about 200 students are studying in this course.

The VC said that tourism and hospitality course will open in new colleges.

Among others, training course coordinator professor Syed Rashidul Hasan, pro vice chancellor Moshiur Rahman and treasurer Noman-ur-Rashid spoke at the programme presided over by graduate school dean professor Anwar Hossain.

A total of 27 teachers of the nine colleges attended the training programme.
