DU observes World Environment Day

With the theme “Beat Plastic Pollution” Dhaka University (DU) on Tuesday observed the ‘World Environment Day 2018’ in a befitting manner.

Dhaka University Environment Society brought out a colourful rally on the campus and organised a discussion at Centre for Advanced Research in Social Science of DU marking the day.

Pro-vice chancellor professor Muhammad Samad addressed the programme as the chief guest.

Urging the youths to play their due role to protect the environment, Prof Samad said, “The youth should carry out social movement against those who are polluting the environment in various ways. Economic and social development of the country depends on active participation of the youths. ”

Later, Prof Samad gave away certificates and crests to the participants who attended the “Disaster Management and Safety Workshop”.

Director of Disaster Research, Training and Management Centre professor AQM Mahbub and DU Environment Society adviser AK Lutful Kabir addressed the programme as special guests while the Environment Society president Mohammad Hossain chaired the function.
