‘No IS in Bangladesh’
Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has once again ruled out the existence of militant outfit Islamic State (IS) in Bangladesh.
Asaduzzaman on Sunday said there is no IS in the country. Though there are some small militant groups, their activities are in control.
He came up with the remarks while addressing a view exchange as chief guest in Dhaka’s Shyampur area.
“An orchestrated local and foreign conspiracy is going on against Bangladesh to obstruct its development and establish the alleged fact that cohorts of IS are active in this country,” Asaduzzaman told the programme.
Asaduzzaman also sought cooperation from the country’s Ulemas in reining in the militants involved in killing innocent people through misinterpretation of Islam.
“Most of the militants arrested in recent times are not educated from Madrasa, rather they are from other background”, Asaduzzaman added.
