2 Jubo League leaders arrested for ‘extortion’

Detective Branch (DB) of Police arrested two leaders of Kushtia Sadar upazila unit Jubo League in an extortion case on Friday night.

The arrested are Kushtia unit Jubo League general secretary Mizanur Rahman and Kushtia municipality unit president Ashrafuzzaman.

Kushtia Islamic University police station officer-in-charge Jahangir Arif told Prothom Alo that the two were accused in an extortion case filed by a local businessman, Al Amin Joardar, with the police station.

The DB men arrested them from the university area around 10:00pm, he added.

The arrested will be produced before the court today, the OC said.
