2 workers killed in Rampal power plant

Two workers were killed as a heavy caging pipe fell on them from a crane at Rampal Power Plant near Sundarbans in Bagerhat on Saturday, reports UNB.

The deceased were Asabur, 40, of Adabar village in Rampal upazila and Nasir Uddin, 24, from Chapainawabgnaj district.

A heavy caging pine suddenly fell on them around 8:00pm while the duo along with other workers were doing piling works at the plant, leaving both of them dead on the spot, said Md Lutfar Rahaman, officer-in-charge of Rampal police station.

The bodies were sent to Khulna Medical College Hospital for autopsies, he added.

The contractors have been asked to compensate the deceased workers' families, said Rezaul Karim, deputy project director of the plant.
