The government has approved three more universities, raising the number of tartiary educational institutions to 95 in the private sector.

The prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, has approved the proposal for setting up three more private universities, a government official, seeking anonymity, confirmed to Prothom Alo.

The entrepreneurs of these universities will be duly informed of the approval soon, said the official. Also, the additional secretary of education ministry, when asked, acknowledged the matter.

Of the three universities, educationalist prof. Anisuzzaman is the founder of Tagore University of Creative Arts, which will be built in Keraniganj.

The University of Global Village, proposed by Imran Chowdhury, incumbent chairman of Infra Polytechnic Institute, will be built in Barishal.

The board of directors of this university include information and research secretary of ruling Awami League Afzal Hossain, member of the central committee of AL Sujit Roy Nandi, and former Bangladesh Chhatra League leader Shawkat Hossain Khan.

The third university is named as AKM Shamsuzzoha University, which will be built in Narayanganj.
