30 Bangladeshis die of COVID-19 in US

Thirty Bangladeshis have died of COVID-19 in the United States till 30 March.

On 30 March, five Bangladeshis died in New York, one in New Jersey and one in Michigan.

There has been a wide outbreak of coronavirus in New York. Many Bangladeshi residents in different areas of New York have been infected with the virus.

Bangladeshis have been panicking over the newspaper and social media reports of coronavirus deaths and infection there. Some with coronavirus infection have returned home while others have recovered at homes without treatment.

On 30 March, Anwarul Alam Chowdhury, 75, died at Ozone Park of Queens in New York, Nishat Chowdhury, 30, in Hillside of Jamaica , freedom fighter Mohammad Ibrahim in Brooklyn, Khaled Hasmat, 60, in Jamaica and photo journalist Shawpan Hai in New York.

Ali Akbar died in New Jersey.

Vice president of the Gopalganj Association, Sheruzzaman Qureishi Jahan’s father Shamsul Huda Chowdhury, 80, died at Henry Ford Hospital. He was a resident in Detroit, Michigan. He is from the village Fulbari Purbapara of Gopalganj upazila, Sylhet.

Prothom Alo North America correspondent Farzana Chowdhury confirmed the news of these deaths.

Earlier, on 29 March, eight Bangladeshis died of coronavirus in New York.

Kaikobad, Shafiqur Rahman Majumder, Azizur Rahman, Mirza Huda, Bijit Kumar Shaha, Shipon Hossain, Zayed Alam and Mutabbir Chowdhury Ismat died on 28 March.

The Bangladesh community is shocked at the number of expatriates infected with coronavirus.

Many Bangladeshis have been taken to hospitals but are unable to know whether they are infected.

Journalist Farid Alam has been infected with coronavirus. On 30 March, his family sources said he is recovering.

Shahab Uddin has been infected with coronavirus.

The janaza of photo journalist Shawpan Hai will be held on 1 April. Bangladesh Society vice president Abdur Rahim Hawlader is in charge of the matter. As many as 3,165 people have died so far in America and 164,253 people have been infected. New York has been affected the most. A total of 67,325 people have been affected while 1,342 have died of COVID-19.
