31 new coronavirus cases reported in three districts and Keraniganj

A total of 31 people tested positive for coronavirus in Barishal, Faridpur, Shariatpur districts and Dhaka’s Keraniganj upazila on Sunday, UNB reports.

According to reports received by UNB, Dhaka’s Keraniganj upazila confirmed 17 more coronavirus cases on Sunday, raising the total number of COVID-19 patients in the upazila to 375.

Besides, one died from the virus in the upazila, said upazila health officer Mir Mubarak Hossain.

In Barishal, seven people were found to be infected with coronavirus, taking the number of patients in the district to 80.

SM Ajior Rahman, deputy commissioner of the district, confirmed the information, saying they have immediately put their respective areas under lockdown.

In Faridpur, three more people were diagnosed with the virus in tests conducted at Faridpur Medical College Hospital.

Md Siddiqur Rahman, civil surgeon of the district, said the total number of COVID-19 patients in the district now stood at 59.

In Shariatpur, four people, including a policewoman, tested positive for COVID-19 on the day.

Abdur Rashid, an official at the civil surgeon’s office, said with the latest ones, the district now has 71 coronavirus patients.

These fresh cases will be counted in the central list scheduled to be disclosed by the Directorate General of Health Services on Monday afternoon.

The Novel Coronavirus has so far infected 20,995 people and claimed 314 lives in Bangladesh.
