4 injured in Rohingya attack, arms recovered from attackers
Four local people were injured in an attack allegedly carried out by a group of armed Rohingya people near Balukhali Rohingya camp in Ukhia of Cox's Bazar on Friday night.
Police detained two Rohingyas with arms in connection with the incident.
The injured are Moshtak, 42, Shaheed Hossain, 24, Jasim Uddin, 25, and Shahed Ali. They were undergoing treatment at a makeshift hospital near the Rohingya camp.
All from Jessore, they came under attack in the small hours of Friday while repairing a tube-well near the camp.
Detained Rohingyas are Ilias, 25, and Noor Basar, 26.
According to the police, the tube-well mechanics were repairing a tube-well near the Balukhali Rohingya camp-2 in the wee hours of Friday. At that time, some Rohingyas started shouting calling them robbers and launched the attack. Rohingyas hit them with sharp weapons.
Police recovered a gun, a light gun, four cartridges and two cartridge shells from the detained Rohingyas.
Additional police superintendent of Cox's Bazar Chailau Marma said they are investigating as to from where the Rohingyas got the arms.
He said both of the detainees are newly arrived Rohingyas in the camp.
Ukhia police station officer-in-charge Abul Khaer said a case will be filed against Rohingyas on charge of possessing arms and carrying out the attack.
He said efforts are on to detain others involved in the attack.
