The administration on Monday claimed the number of deceased in the devastating fire triggered by an explosion in Sitakunda depot is 41, not 49.

They said the number, 49, they confirmed yesterday was ‘wrong’ as they had found 41 bodies in the hospital.

Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) director Brigadier General Shameem Ahsan made this statement on Monday afternoon at a press conference.

"We have found 41 bodies as of now. So, the number of people who died in the fire is 41," he said.

Deputy commissioner Mohammad Mominur Rahman and Civil Surgeon Mohammad Illias Chowdhury on Sunday had said that 49 people were killed in the fire.
