AL Dhaka south, north units get new leaders

Ruling Awami League has chosen new leaders for Dhaka south and north city units for next three years.


Abu Ahmed Mannafi was picked as the new president of AL Dhaka south city unit while Humayun Kabir as the general secretary on Friday, reports UNB.


Besides, Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and SM Mannan Kochi were made president and general secretary of the party’s Dhaka north unit respectively.


The new leaders were chosen at the triennial council of Dhaka north and south city units of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan.

Earlier, prime minister Sheikh Hasina also the AL president, opened the council as the chief guest by hoisting the national flag as well as releasing pigeons and balloons in the morning.


The last council of the undivided Dhaka City Awami League was held on 27 December, 2012.
