Acting JMB chief, cohorts arrested in Dhaka

Police arrested seven people including Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) acting amir Tasnim from Turag in Dhaka on Thursday night.

The arrested are Abdullah al Tasnim, who is the acting chief of a JMB faction, JMB members Md Nayeem Ali, Sikandar Ali, Mahmud Ibne Bashar, Md Masum Billah, Fuad Hasan and Ali Ahmad.   

The DB police, led by assistant commissioner (north) Md Minhazul Islam, arrested them from the parking area of the Ashulia vessel landing station around 1:00am last night. Police seized 10 kilograms of jell chemical substance, four bronze statues, some books and leaflets. 

Dhaka metropolitan DB police joint commissioner Monirul Islam, at a press conference at DMP Media Centre on Friday afternoon, said two cases have been filed with Turag police against the arrested. There are around 20 cases against Tasnim with different police stations. He is also an accused in the 17 August grenade attack case.
