All set for Bangabandhu Gold Cup

After a 15-year hiatus, Bangabandhu Gold Cup, an international football tournament, is all set to begin at Sylhet District Stadium today (Thursday).

Hosts Bangladesh will play out the opener against Malaysia's under-23 team, followed by a ceremonious inauguration programme.

The tournament will also feature Sri Lanka national team and the U-23 teams of Bahrain, Singapore and Thailand.

The participation of two national teams means, the tourney fulfils FIFA's criterion to be a first class international tournament.
