The owner of Apan Jewellers and his two brothers appeared before the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) on Tuesday morning.

Customs intelligence has asked for the bank statements of Apan Jewelers owner Dildar and his son Shafat Ahmed after the latter had been accused of raping two university students at a hotel in Banani.
There are rumours that the accused have splashed a huge amount to bury the case. The CIID are now investigating whether the money is ‘dirty money’ and if the transactions of the jewelry shops are transparent or not.
CIID director general Moinul Khan said Dildar Ahmed and his two brothers earlier appeared before the directorate on 17 May. The authorities will take further action if the jewelry shop owners fail to show valid documents.
Two female students of a private university were violated at Banani hotel named ‘The Raintree’ on 28 March after they were invited there to attend a birthday celebration programme, according to the rape victims as said in the case statement.
The victims filed the case on 6 May with the Banani police station after their 48-hour toilsome effort as the police allegedly declined to accept the case in the first place.
The five accused in the case are: Shafat Ahmed, his bodyguard Abul Kalam Azad, his driver Billal, Shafat’s friend Naeem Ashraf, and Sadman Sakif.
Two prime accused Shafat Ahmed and his friend Sadman Sakif were arrested from Sylhet on 11 May while Shafat's driver Billal Hossain and his bodyguard Rahmat Ali were nabbed on 16 May.
The next day, police arrested Abdul Halim aka Nayeem Ashraf.
